Introduction
Role: Lead Product Designer at div Systems, the technical arm of I-Score (Egypt’s credit bureau) · Oct 2021 - Feb 2023 · Designed end to end; fully delivered, with launch pending regulatory approval.
Nakdi Pay is a fintech mobile app designed to simplify how users handle digital payments. With Nakdi Pay, users can not only pay their friends and merchants but also split bills seamlessly. My role in this project was to ensure the app provided a smooth, intuitive, and secure payment experience built on Egypt's Instant Payment Network (IPN).

Challenge
Designing Nakdi Pay posed multiple challenges. The goal was to create an app that could match the simplicity and convenience of other leading mobile payment platforms, while incorporating features like bill splitting and merchant payments. The challenge was twofold: ensuring a frictionless user experience for diverse payment types and maintaining security and transparency in financial transactions. Additionally, the design had to accommodate users with varying levels of familiarity with fintech apps, making the platform approachable for both tech-savvy and casual users.
Solution
The solution centered around delivering a clean, easy-to-navigate interface. I began by researching best practices from existing fintech platforms, identifying key pain points in digital payment processes, and ensuring Nakdi Pay addressed them.
Key features implemented included:
One-tap payments to friends or merchants, simplifying the transaction flow.
Bill splitting functionality, allowing users to split payments with friends easily and keep track of shared expenses.
A dynamic user dashboard, where users could view and manage their transaction history, upcoming payments, and bill splits.
Built on Egypt’s Instant Payment Network (IPN), the rail behind InstaPay, so transfers move instantly between banks.
The design followed a minimalist approach, ensuring clarity and ease of use, while emphasizing key actions like “Pay” and “Split Bill.” Furthermore, we ensured the app’s architecture was scalable, paving the way for future enhancements.

Conclusion
Nakdi Pay was fully designed and delivered end to end: users can send money, pay merchants and split bills in one app. Its public launch is pending regulatory approval.
Outcomes:
Delivered: the complete app, covering payments to friends and merchants and bill splitting, ready for launch.
Simplified flows: one-tap payments and bill splitting designed for both tech-savvy and first-time fintech users.
Scalable foundation: an architecture ready for future features once launch is approved.
Nakdi Pay is ready to launch as soon as regulatory approval is granted.
